In May, ECD Automotive released a teaser that they planned to rebuild a Land Rover Defender and put a powertrain and battery pack from a Tesla Model S in it.
The car is now ready and the creation has been developed together with Electric Classic Cars. The result power is 450 bhp and 0-60 in under 5 seconds. There will also be a 600 bhp option for 0-60 in the 3 second range. In order to cope with that increased power, the car feature upgraded drive line, downhill assist and traction control, an anti-lock braking system, and regenerative braking. The battery is 100 kWh and should not weigh much more than the original one.
ECD hasn't shared any pricing, but their lowest cost Defender starts at about $160,000.
