IPL, Intensive Pulsed Light, is a further development of laser technology and is used in the treatment of unwanted hair growth, pigment spots, superficial blood vessels in the face and in skin rejuvenation. The light is directed from a flash lamp to the area to be treated. The light is absorbed by melanin (pigment) in the hair and is converted into light energy (heat). The heat stimulates the hair follicle to enter a dormant phase. The result is that the hair falls out and regrowth is prevented, which leads to a gradual decrease in the amount of hair that grows out. IPL technology has the best effect on dark hair, as it absorbs light the most. It does not work on light, red or gray hair, nor if you have dark or tanned skin.
Hair removal of unwanted and embarrassing hair growth with IPL is today a recognized method. The treatment is fast and effective and provides a permanent reduction in hair growth for both men and women. The effect is usually very good, but in some people you may need maintenance treatment once a year as new hair can be produced over time.
